The Faith of Not Believing.

In Religion on December 21, 2009 at 5:10 pm

There comes a point in scientific analysis where the causes and affects which have lead to an occurance or state become unclear. Whether we ignore the subtleties of friction and wind or cannot comprehend the quantum movements of quarks and such.

Yet, just the same the lack of evidence to demonstrate the existence of a god is used as a reason to not believe in him/her/them.

However, since we don’t actually know what’s going on in the physical world, it cannot be used as evidence that god is not operating in it. There’s no proof of origination to complete the chain of events, nor even a complete chain in its self, to demonstrate a lack of god.

At the end of the day, it requires just as much faith to say that god does not operate within those things we do not understand as it does to say he does.

Laws Which Prevent Self-Harm

In Firearms, Law/Government on December 8, 2009 at 12:46 am

Preventing suicide and self harm is a sign that he who is preventing is attempting to become master to he or she who would do the self harm. The rules and duties of government amongst people is for them to protect themselves from others, and submit to the requisite renouncement those things which would harm others. If a person or group aims to prevent you from doing things to yourself, and thus not do harm them, then their actions are beyond the scope of the agreement of governance. Thus since only actions within the scope of governance oblige the individual to obey, individuals are not obliged to obey command. Further, since any party which attacks an individual without their consent should be resisted, governments which legally prevent suicide and self-harm should be resisted.
